Every Dish Tells A Story

I’m a Puerto Rican kid raised in the heart of the South Bronx, where every block had its own rhythm and every home had a pot of something good simmering on the stove. My parents came straight from Puerto Rico, bringing with them the rich traditions and bold flavors of the island. In our house, there was always arroz con gandules, pernil, and tostones—but while I loved all of that, I was also the kid begging for burgers, tacos, pizza, and anything I could get from the corner spot. My taste buds never followed rules—I like what I like.

I didn’t go to culinary school. I learned how to cook the old-fashioned way—by doing. From helping my mom in the kitchen to working in delis and restaurants all over Manhattan, I picked up skills and flavors like souvenirs. I’ve cooked in everything from high-end kitchens to hole-in-the-wall joints. Give me liverwurst with onions on a bialy and a few capers, and I’m in heaven. My style is a blend of what I was raised on and what I discovered out in the world—real, bold, and full of heart.

Cooking for me isn’t just about feeding people—it’s about connecting. It’s about sharing stories, passing down traditions, and learning something new every time I step into the kitchen.
